Ford FINALLY got smart and made an all motor engine powerfull, but it require’s 4 cams and 4x variable valve and cam timing… WHILE the camaro still uses stone age pushrod technology??? and the camaro still has 13 more whp. and 50K vs 33K??? I need someone to show me a $33k camaro.. around here they STILL go for $37k for the SS and $40-42k for the 2SS. At air time of this vid, there was about a $10k difference from the GT to the SS.. Irrelevant now since the 2011 GTs are out and for $5-$10k less than the street price of an SS it still blows it away..

@1vdn992 Now there’s a comment from someone that has clearly never done any form of racing other than in a straight line. To beat a Z06 around that particular track adding power is the last thing the gt500 needs. It can’t even manage its current power levels that well. It would need a stickier set of tires, some stiffer suspension and and a stiffer front sway bar to keep that SRA in check. Then it would be a close race. Adding HP to a car that tends to be tail happy as it is = fail

the ss put up a good fight considering its naturaly aspirated 114 horse power less and less tourqe, while the shelby is supercharge boosted which raise many questions, does the shelby realy worth 50k dollars?!

this is bull. first off, the ss IS, i repeat, IS, on the same scale as the mustang gt. the mustang gt just fails because of ford lacking a powerful motor. though, in 2011 this will change dramatically as ford has introduced a motor on par with the ss’s power rating and the ford is lighter. as for this gt500 versus ss crap, its all bull, because the gt500 is not on par at all with the camaro. the gt500 is more of a competitor with the viper and vette. i like both ford and chevy…and dodge sorta

@idiotfieldmouse Is that right. Virginia International Raceway is a 4.1 mile road course, and takes approximately 3+ mins to complete the circuit.
As it stands the 2011 Shelby GT500 SVT ran a lap time of
11. Shelby Mustang Cobra GT500 2:58.48
And the C6 ZO6 ran a lap time of
10. Chevrolet Corvette Z06 2:58.2
or 0.28s quicker around this course, and you don’t think another 90 hp for $700 added to this much faster Mustang will shave a 1/4 of a second off a 2:58.48 lap time

Okay first of all the shelby is 50 grand and the camaro is 33g….
with the 17g in mods added to the camaro the shelby would have no chance at all.
with 17 grand the camaro could get over 300 more hp which would stomp the shit out of the shelby….

thats funny the stock ss camaro beats the supercharged mustang gt 500 off the line but then the supercharged mustang catches up and wins.

@1vdn992 It all comes down to the driver. If you’ve ever been on a road course behind a bone stock GT500 you would know exactly how tail happy they are…even with a skilled driver being gentle on the throttle is key in those things when exiting a turn. More power is not always the key. Like I said, around that particular type of course…all the GT500 would need is some stickier tires and suspension upgrades and it would be a good race.

@bubblegum930 if you would know the gt500 looks better and is much safer to drive on the street than any other car in the country
